This course prepares learners to confidently deliver and securely operate the IBM "Securely Operate" solution. Learn the best practices for running successful proofs of experience (PoXs) and client engagements, build a solid understanding of the solution's core security and observability components, and explore the reference architectures that tie them together. Then put it all into practice with guided labs covering deployment, Day 2 operations, and automated security and compliance. Ideal for anyone who wants to move from product knowledge to real-world delivery of secure cloud solutions.

Securely operating cloud environments is one of the most important—and most scrutinized—responsibilities for any organization moving to the cloud. IBM's "Securely Operate" as a Service solution brings together a set of security, key management, and observability services designed to help clients deploy, monitor, and protect cloud-native workloads with confidence. But knowing the products is only part of the story. To deliver real value, you also need to understand how the pieces fit together architecturally and how to put them to work in a live environment.

This course is designed to take you from foundational knowledge to practical, hands-on delivery. Whether you're a seller preparing for client conversations, a technical partner scoping an engagement, or a practitioner getting ready to deploy, this course gives you a structured path through the entire solution. You'll start with proven engagement best practices, deepen your understanding of each solution component, study the underlying architecture, and finish by working through real deployment and operations scenarios in guided labs.

By the end of the course, you'll be able to plan and run a successful proof of experience, explain how the Securely Operate components work individually and together, describe the solution's reference architecture, and carry out core deployment and Day 2 operations tasks—including automating security and compliance for cloud-native application platforms.

What You'll Learn

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • Apply best practices for scoping and executing successful proofs of experience (PoXs) and client engagements with the Securely Operate solution.
  • Describe the core components of the Securely Operate offering, including Security and Compliance Center Workload Protection, Secrets Manager, Key Protect, IBM Cloud Logs, Cloud Monitoring, and Cloud Object Storage.
  • Explain the reference and technical architectures that show how these services are designed and connected within a secure cloud environment.
  • Deploy a security services stack, manage Day 2 operations, and automate security and compliance for cloud-native application platforms through hands-on labs.

Lesson 3: Securely Operate solution architecture
  • Learn how the solution's components are designed and connected through reference and technical architectures.
  • Study the architectures for Workload Protection, Secrets Manager, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logs, and Cloud Object Storage.
  • Reinforce your knowledge with an architecture quiz to confirm you can describe how the solution fits together.

Lesson 4: Deployment, Day 2 operations, and security hands-on labs
  • Get hands-on experience deploying and operating the solution in a real environment.
  • Prepare your lab environment, then deploy a landing zone with a security services stack.
